This program provides students with a solid foundation in the fields of human nutrition, nutritional science, and human health over a four-year period. Students are equipped with a high level of awareness regarding the critical relationship between food, nutrition, and human health.
Given that food constitutes an essential component of the therapeutic process for various diseases, the discipline of nutrition and dietetics represents the practical application of food science, clinical nutrition, and dietary planning in the prevention and treatment of diet-related diseases, with the aim of promoting individual and community health.
The curriculum has been carefully designed to prepare graduates with comprehensive knowledge and the necessary skills to establish a strong foundation for a wide range of professional careers in nutrition and food service fields. These curricula have been developed in alignment with reputable universities in both developing and developed countries, ensuring compliance with national and international standards.

The Department’s vision is to enhance nutritional awareness in Iraq through improved nutritional care and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle. It also aspires to achieve national recognition as a distinguished academic entity dedicated to excellence in nutrition science, education, and leadership.
Department Message
The mission of the Department of Therapeutic Nutrition is to prepare graduates to become future leaders in nutrition, dietetics, and food services, with the aim of improving human health and reducing the burden of non-communicable diseases through enhanced nutritional care and the promotion of healthy lifestyles.
The Department seeks to achieve this mission through research that advances understanding of the impact of diet on health at both individual and population levels; by developing nutrition strategies, policies, and educational initiatives; and by disseminating evidence-based nutritional information to healthcare professionals and the broader public.
Strategic Goals of the Department
The Department of Therapeutic Nutrition aims to:
1. Prepare a generation of qualified graduates with high-level competencies in nutrition, contributing to the improvement of dietary practices and public health standards in Iraq.
2. Promote community awareness of healthy eating, nutritional care, and specialized dietary regimens, and organize local and international seminars, training programs, conferences, and workshops addressing malnutrition and epidemiology.
3. Advance the Department regionally and internationally through the conduct of distinguished and impactful scientific research.
4. Emphasize collaboration and partnerships with local and regional institutions and organizations to strengthen nutritional care and safeguard public health.
5. Establish diverse academic and extracurricular activities to enhance nutritional knowledge and education throughout the four years of study.
